Penn Symphony Orchestra concert - with Lidia & Óscar

What:

The University of Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1878, and is comprised of musicians from throughout the University community, primarily non-music majors. The ensemble performs --in historic Irvine Auditorium-- a diverse range of repertoire drawn from the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth centuries. Their spring concert this year will pair Beethoven and Brahms! 💞:

A Tale of Two Symphonies: Enjoy the 2nd symphonies of two symphonic titans (who also happen to be two-thirds of the three Bs in music, Bach being the other third), coming together to celebrate the joy and optimism that characterizes both symphonies, lending keen insights into the composers' artistic and expressive journeys. Beethoven's symphony no. 2 introduces his iconic use of dynamics in both contrasting and humorous settings, while the latter master Brahms utilizes his unique 'developing variations' compositional technique. Glorious sounds, rich harmonies, uplifting melodies, a truly rare opportunity to hear these symphonies paired together.
