Dear KCECHer,

As part of our Discovery of the Hidden Treasures of Philly and its surroundings Series KCECH is taking a trip this time to the Science History Institute in Old City (3rd Street and Chestnut Street).  The Science History Institute (https://www.sciencehistory.org/museum) collects and shares the stories of innovators and of discoveries that shape our lives with a focus on preserving and interpreting the history of chemistry, chemical engineering, and the life sciences. It is a Gem!

At the Science History Institute, you can explore the amazing successes, astonishing failures, and strange surprises behind the science that shapes our world.
  1. In addition to the museum collection, let's "Find out how water moves, what it carries, the ways it can be threatened and how to protect it by taking a watery journey through history and science with Downstream, a new exhibition that explores more than 200 years of water analysis and water protection in the United States. The Downstream Exhibit features fine art, advertisements, films, posters, and photographs that capture efforts to understand water. Learn how the museum uses objects as diverse as wooden pipes, scientific instruments, insects, and a 16-foot 1964 model of the Delaware River basin to reveal the historical relationships between knowledge, activism, and action."
  2. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served.
Interested residents must RSVP for this event by e-mailing Krimo: bokreta@upenn.edu and by registering on the website below.
