Facilities
Front Desk
Location: EH Ground floor, entrance of the buildingThe front desk is your one-stop shop for questions and (hopefully) answers. The front desk is staffed around the clock by college house staff, night staff, or students. All personnel have been trained to answer your general questions. In addition, if you lock yourself outside of your room, the front desk is the place to go to get a replacement key! But make sure you return it to them promptly, or they'll hunt you down.
Floor Lounges
Each floor has one or more lounges of their own. These lounges are often used for floor events, such as food gatherings, steady breaks, movies, etc. These lounges have various facilities, ranging from TVs to microwaves, to desks. Make sure to check out all the lounges on every floor! Even though each floor lounge is a gathering point for students on that floor, students from other floors are more than welcome to use the facilities! So wander off and check it out.Computer Lab
Location: EH First floor, continue straight after going up main staircaseKCECH has its own full-featured computer lab with around 15 computers for student use. These computers are packed with all the software you'll need to write papers, browse the web, do your calculus homework, etc. In addition, the lab features a black-and-white laser printer that costs 5 cents a page and a laser color printer that costs 25 cents a page. There's also a scanner for use free of charge. The hours of the lab are posted on the lab door.
KCECH Dining Hall
Location: EH Ground floor, continue straight after entering buildingKCECH is fortunate to have its own dining hall within its walls. Unlike residents of the Quadrangle, KCECHers can come down to the dining hall in their PJs, grab breakfast (or lunch or dinner), and either eat down there or take the food back to their room. The dining hall offers convenient hours as well. Its a great place to relax with your friends and meet new people as well.
Oasis
Location: EH Ground floor, to the left of the main staircaseOasis is your source of drinks, snacks, and other food necessities to quench your thirst or hunger between meals. Open until very late in the night, this place offers the most convenience for students. In addition, you will find student necessities such as laundry soap, stamps, subway tokens, etc. also available at Oasis. If you are going to play pool or ping pong in the game room, Oasis is where you'll have to go to rent your stuff!
Private Dining Room (PDR)
Location: EH Ground floor, continue straight after entering buildingKCECH features a private dining room that seats about 20 or so students. This facility is used most commonly for Dinner Discussions, in which prominent faculty at Penn as well as other individuals are invited to eat dinner with students interested in having a discussion with the distinguished individual. This is a great way to get to know your professors outside the classroom in a more interactive format.
Mirage Coffeehouse
Location: EH Rooftop, above fifth floorThis spacious lounge located on the top of the rooftop of English House features several couches, tables, and chairs. Stop by for a cup of coffee, tea, or some other beverage to enjoy while you study.
2 Laundry Rooms
Location: EH Ground floor, continue straight after entering building, will be on leftLocation: KC Basement floor, to the right when entering KC
English House and King's Court each have their own laundary rooms. The King's Court facility is slightly larger, considering there are most residents in KC. There is a laundary machine that charges $1.25 for each load and the dryer charges $1 for each load. So make sure you come down with lots of quarters! And make sure you have your own detergent as well. Please be courteous and remove your garments from the machine soon after the machines are done so other students can use the facilities.
Bike Storage
Location: EH Ground floor, near front deskAvailable right after the front desk is a storage facility for your bikes, so you do not need to keep them outdoors at night. This serves as a protection from theft and also damage from the weather. If you have a bike in Philly, its a good idea to get it registered with the Penn Police, so that way if it is stolen, it can be safely returned to the owner if found.
Drink \ Snack Machine
Location: EH Ground floor, near bike storage, back of entranceIn case you want a drink and a snack during those few hours that Oasis is closed, the drink and snack vending machines are available!
KCECH Library
Location: EH First floor, to the right after going up main staircaseKCECH has its own studying library for residents to use when they are looking for a quiet place to study outside of their room. This is a very convenient alternative to your room or to the Penn library. Books are also available for pleasure reading in the rare case that you don't have any school work to do.
Seminar Room
Location: EH First floor, go straight after going up main staircaseThe seminar room is often utilized as a group studying room. Have an exam tomorrow? Need a place where 5-10 of your friends can study? Check out the private conference room! Comes equipped with a chalkboard as well for your learning convenience.
1938 Lounge
Location: EH First floor, turn around after going up main staircaseThis large lounge has been used for various purpose throughout the year. House-wide study breaks, movie-nights, musical performances, and other large-group activities all take place in the 1938 lounge. This facility is also open for students to relax in and enjoy!
KCECH Mail room
Location: EH First floor, turn around after going up main staircaseThis is where you will find your mail box as well as the place you can receive your packages. Make sure to bring your student ID down when you pick up your package!
KCECH Courtyard
Location: EH First floor, turn left after going up main staircaseKCECH is lucky to have a beautiful courtyard in between English House and King's Court. The Garden Club maintains all the greenery in the area. This site is used for a lot of large-group parties, get-togethers, and lounging!
Music Practice Room \ Piano Room
Location: KC Basement, turn right after entering KCThe music practice room is ideal for practicing your instrument without disturbing your peers. A piano is also available in the facility. The key can be obtained from the front desk.
Blue Lounge
Location: KC Basement, turn left after entering KCKing's Court also has a large lounge available for student use on the basement floor.
TV Lounge
Location: EH Ground floor, left of main staircaseThe TV lounge has a large TV and plenty of seating so you can get together with your friends to watch some TV together!
Video Editing Room
Location: KC Basement, turn left after entering KCKCECH has its own analog video editing room. This facility can be used to do general editing after you have taken a video to cut out clips, insert new clips, and to just clean it up.
